Greeting the high-ranking guest, the head of our state noted that Uzbekistan considers Switzerland a long-standing and reliable partner who wields an important standing in world politics and is a universally acknowledged economic and financial center.

The meeting offered an opportunity to exchange views in detail across key issues in the Uzbek-Swiss relations and on prospective aspects of their evolution in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other areas.

It was noted that the two nations have garnered a considerable experience of interaction in diverse spheres and have created a robust agreement-normative base.

77 enterprises with Swiss capital, including 22 completely Swiss, are currently operating in Uzbekistan. The positive trend in building up the bilateral trade is evident this year, as well.

At the same time, the available potential of bilateral relations allows for steadfast enhancement of constructive cooperation in all areas that the two countries share interest in.

As it was stressed at the meeting, close or similar positions of our two nations on many issues in regional and global politics help create an environment conducive for interaction within the frameworks of international organizations, such as the UN and OSCE, among others.

In this context, Didier Burkhalter shared with preliminary outcomes of the Swiss presidency in the OSCE in 2014, which was supported by Uzbekistan.

Also, a range of pressing international issues was discussed during the talks.
